COSL Drilling Europe signs contract with Equinor

COSL has been awarded a contract to drill four wells on Statfjord Øst with the COSLPromoter drilling rig from the spring of 2023. In addition, the rig has options for drilling five wells for Statfjord satellites and further extension by continuing options. 

COSL Drilling Europe will be utilizing its modern, 6th. Generation Harsh Environment Semi-Submersible drilling unit, the COSLPromoter for this contract. Estimated duration for the first four wells is 220 days and five optional wells of 270 days. After the preliminary programme has been completed, the intention is to extend the cooperation by continuing options.

The COSLPromoter will, as part of ongoing mobilization, upgrade the automatic drilling control system. The rig has already installed the COSL Energy Control System, converting the unit into a Low Emission 6th. Generation drilling unit. This as well as COSL being ISO 50001 certified will set new benchmark in the industry representing the lowest fuels consumption and carbon footprint seen to date for these types of units. COSL will as a part of this contract be responsible for the fuel consumption, and integrated services like: Casing Services, ROV services, wastewater treatment and cuttings handling.
